Dry bathing for purification
I am often asked how to perform dry bathing (Kenyoku) when learning Reiki and what is lovely about this exercise is that anyone can do it – you don’t have to be studying Reiki or know anything about Reiki. It can be used when you are feeling tense, stressed, or want to relax – for example, before bedtime to clear any negative energy from your aura and help with your relaxation process.
It is good to use Kenyoku when you are (or have been) in a negative situation or environment. It can help to ground you and keep you feeling more in control. It is also good to perform dry bathing first thing in the morning to prepare you for the day ahead and then again in the evening to cleanse your aura.
If you are with other people and feel that Kenyoku could help you but you can’t excuse yourself from their company, simply visualise doing the exercise – I have found that it does have the same effect!
Kenyoku removes any negative energy which you might have collected from your activities during the day. Kenyoku is great to do in between treatments as it refreshes and helps to prepare you for your next treatment (as well as washing your hands and making sure your breath is fresh if you are treating humans!).
To perform Kenyoku:
Sit comfortably in your chair with your feet firmly on the ground:
- Take three deep breaths and on the third breath
- Place your right hand on your left shoulder
- As you exhale, run your right hand across your body to your right hip.
- Then take your left hand and place it on your right shoulder
- As you exhale, run your left hand across your body to your left hip.
- And once again, place your right hand on your left shoulder
- As you exhale, run your right hand across your body to your right hip
- Now place your right hand on your left shoulder
- As you breathe out, brush your hand down the length of your arm
- Take your left hand and place it on your right shoulder
- As you breath out, brush your hand down the length of your arm
- Once again, place your right hand on your left shoulder
- As you breathe out, brush your hand down the length of your arm
- Now you can go on to prepare for Reiki or go about your daily life.
