Reiki also helps to promote natural healing which can bring a positive affect to your health. Reiki helps to balance your life on all levels. Many people have also found that Reiki has helped them to experience their more spiritual side which has brought a more colourful, enriched and enlightened sense of well-being to my students and clients.
History of Reiki
Reiki was developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s in Japan. Usui Sensei drew upon existing and ancient Japanese ways of working with energy – founded in Buddhism, Shinto, Shugendo and in other energy cultivation techniques. He created something that was unique and different.
Usui worked and associated himself with martial artists and energy workers and he was a well-known healer and teacher. His simple energy system was created and anyone can learn to connect to the energy and channel it for their own use as well as for the benefit of others.
Will Reiki work for you?
Reiki works for everyone and it is practised by people across the world. As it is such a lovely simple system it is easy to learn and within a short period of time you can become a Second Degree Reiki Practitioner.
The Reiki Principles
Reiki practitioners and teachers try to follow a set of principles drawn up by Mikao Usui. Here they are:
Just for Today…..
Do not anger
Do not worry
Be grateful and humble
Be honest
Be compassionate towards yourself and others
How do I learn Reiki?
Reiki is tau
ght at three levels: First Degree, Second Degree and Master level. The Second Degree is the ‘practitioner’ level and most people will take the first two courses, leaving a few months in between each. Reiki works for everyone, so you don’t need any special qualities; you do not even need to believe in Reiki….it will still work for you. Once you are ‘attuned’ and opened up to Reiki by your Reiki Master, the Reiki energy and abiility will never leave you – even if you don’t use it every day.
First Degree Reiki introduces you to working with and experiencing energy. You learn now to work on yourself so that you can develop your ability as a channel and balance your energy system over a period of time. You will also learn how to pass on the benefits of Reiki to others, using a simple treatment system.
Second Degree Reiki is usually taken a few months after the First Degree to give you an opportunity to work on yourse
lf and be comfortable with the basics before moving on. You also learn some simple symbols that you can use to enhance your treatments and you will learn how to ca
rry out distant healing too.
